On Being Radically Pro-Life

Matthew Tyson on the perfectly Catholic proposition that we must defend human life from conception to natural death.

The paradox of our time is that the same subculture that perpetually greets Black Lives Matter with “All lives matter” is the subculture that makes very clear that there are plenty of lives that don’t matter at all.  Unborn children (and adults worshipping at Urakami Cathedral) don’t matter when we want to nuke them.  Death row inmate lives don’t matter.  People we want to beat, freeze, and suffocate to death in CIA black sites don’t matter. 100,000 Iraqi lives didn’t matter.  Both the Left Wing and the Right Wing culture of death have plenty of lives that don’t matter.

And yet, what’s interesting is that what Tyson says is attracting people from the Left as well as the Right.  It’s like the gospel answers to the human heart and frees us from the blinding constriction of ideology or something!  It’s as though people deeply long for a consistent life ethic!
