Sr. Martina of the Blessed Sacrament

Sr. Martina of the Blessed Sacrament August 16, 2016

left her life as a political reporter for the BBC to become a nun.  Here’s a fascinating interview with her.

What’s striking to me is how her trajectory brings together things that you don’t normally associate with one another.  She gave up, inter alia, the whole focus that TV has on women’s looks and all that surface junk to focus on the life of the Spirit.  In the course of it, she fulfills the goal of two subcultures that often imagine they have nothing in common: Traditional Catholics and secular feminists: both of whom argue strenuously for either a) modesty or b) not judging women by their looks and often wind up in the same place of insisting that its what’s on the inside that counts.  It will be interesting to see what bridges she builds.

Anyway, she looks like a fine she’s a fine nun.  Welcome to the Life, sister!
