Cherie Blair’s sister becomes a Muslim

Cherie Blair’s sister becomes a Muslim 2014-12-31T14:40:10-07:00

…watery secularism meets Islamic sturdiness and feels attracted to a serious moral code and the imposition of a life of discipline on the pointless post-modern meandering of souls lost in space.

We shouldn’t really be surprised by this. Atheists like to bray about being rational beings who boldly determine their own reality, etc. But the truth is that a society that lapses into godlessness usually winds up retching in the alley behind the bar and then going home to the tawdry flat to sleep it off and watch “Dancing with the Stars” over a TV dinner. Mix in a few dozen one night stands, a feeling of insignificance and loneliness, and a life of bitter regrets over failed relationships, abortions, some crappy job in a widget factory and a long evening pondering whether or not to just blow ones’ brains out and the attractions of Islam (or, for that matter, really serious Christianity) become quite obvious. The woman didn’t convert out of rage or a desires to blow up Westerners. She converted because of 1) the sense of charity and community she encountered among Muslims, and 2) the sense of strength she gained from being more modest and morally self-disciplined. Note especially that her two young daughters approve of their mum’s new religion, because it means she has stopped drinking and smoking and dressing like a tart.

The moral here is not “Cherie Blair’s sister is an idiot.” The moral here is that the Catholic Church in the UK (into which she was baptised) desperately needs to stop trying to accomodate degenerate British culture and needs to start being the Catholic Church. The moral teaching of St. Paul can be summarized in four words: “Become what you are!” Had this woman had the slightest idea what being a Catholic actually meant, she would have never had to go looking for it elsewhere. That a starving person battens on bread in a mosque because it was never offered her in a Church is not strange. What is strange is that the Bread of Life is hidden under a bushel for no good reason.
