Please pray for Fr. Jim Larkin of Holy Family in Lawton, OK. He has been diagnosed with 6 months to live due to aggressive brain cancer.

Also, a reader writes:

My friend was diagnosed with third stage, fast growing, breast cancer when she was around 6 months pregnant, necessitating a mastectomy and chemotherapy. (We were told the chemo wouldn’t affect the baby in the placenta). She delivered a 5 pound plus baby on Mother’s Day via caesarean (baby started coming foot first – thus the section). She is not to be around her baby or his 2 year old brother the days she has chemo, and the chemo has also caused some problems with her heart. No one knows for sure what effect the anesthesia or chemotherapy has had on the baby. Recently she had an appointment with her eye doctor and he found a spot he was concerned about so I think a brain scan is the next step.
I was invited to help celebrate the baby’s baptism on Father’s Day. He is adorable.
Please, please, join me in praying for my friend and her wonderful family so that she may see their sons grow up. They are a wonderful, loving, good Catholic family, but it is like the roof has fallen in on them.. Thank you fo your prayers.

Father, hear our prayer for this good priest and this brave mother and her family, especially the new baby. Grant that she will have long life and be able to see her sons grow up. Give strength, faith and consolation to her whole family that your Name will be glorified. Grant also that your holy priest will be given the grace of a happy death. Mother Mary, St. Gianna, St. Luke and St. Peregine, pray for her! We ask all this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
