I read with some alarm that in England, of all places, the wearing of the cross as a symbol of one’s Christian faith has become controversial, thanks in large part to the meddling of Prime Minister David Cameron’s supposedly Conservative government. I propose that as a gesture of solidarity with our English brothers and sisters, American Christians wear the cross or the crucifix openly. If you have a cross or crucifix that can be worn around your neck or on your lapel, wear it openly and unapologetically–while you still can. After all, the forces of political correctness and goodthink are rampant in the United States too, and it may not be that long before Christians are on the hit list. Just a thought.
Sure. Why not? We Yanks are fond of our English cousins and love their courage in standing up to tyranny. You guys did it with Hitler. Do it again with these smothering blow-dried secularists. We’re with you!
