I was wondering if I could share a prayer request with you and your readers.
My husband and I are expecting our first baby, a boy named Ewan, in early October. At our first ultrasound scan last week, the doctor saw some things that troubled him, including a possible congenital heart defect with the added possibility of associated chromosomal abnormalities (such as Down’s). Thankfully, the baby in every other respect appears healthy, normal, and VERY active! We’re going in for additional testing at Children’s Hospital in Seattle this Tuesday (5/25) for a fetal echocardiogram which should tell us more definitively what, if anything, is wrong with little Ewan’s heart. Another ultrasound scan will be performed on Thursday 6/3 to see if anything can be seen better since he will be further developed at that point.
For many reasons, this has shocked us both. This has been such a healthy and uneventful pregnancy thus far. We’ve been alternately hopeful, and grieved to the core since hearing this news. Please pray for a healthy baby and that no matter the outcome, we will trust our Father with this little one and find the grace sufficient to handle anything we must face.
Many, many thanks for your prayers.
Father, hear our prayer for Ewan that he be born healthy. Hear our prayers for his parents as they deal with all this, that they be filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered by your grace, strength and peace to obey Jesus come what may, so that your name will be gloried and they will all grow in your love through Christ our Lord, Amen! Mother Mary, St. Joseph and St. Luke, pray for them!
