has no problem with chopping up babies and feeding them to the fish. But they are intensely concerned with the right to a good reputation for nuns who recommend abortion. This is what Jesus called “straining at gnats and swallowing camels.” The redoubtable Ed Peters looks at some of the canonical aspects of the case.
Meanwhile, Catholic abortion excusers continue to make common cause with Catholic torture excusers by pretending to be baffled about what O what abortion/torture even is! It’s soooooooooo confusing? Who can possibly even define it? And if you can’t even define it in a way that satisfies every single person who ever lived, then how can anybody *possibly* be guilty of it? Golly! What a puzzle! If only the Church would issue an encyclical defining every conceivable technique of torture and abortion! Otherwise nobody should ever discuss these issues and we can all disagree in good faith and be good Catholics. In fact, that only really *bad* Catholic is the one who arrogantly presumes to criticize so-called “torture” and so-called “abortion”.
