A philosophy prof, fellow Chestertonian, and fellow convert writes:

I just wanted to let you know that I just now finished reading vol I of “Mary: Mother of the Son” and I am deeply impressed with your work. As a Catholic convert myself I have never fully understood Mary although I tended to trust the Church on these matters. [I will say that my RCIA class in the early 80’s was rather dismal, so everything I have learned about the faith has come mainly from what I read and the conversations I have had over the years with priests and fellow Catholics.] I have of late been engaged with a fellow colleague who I take to be “on the road to Rome”, so many things you discuss in this volume will be useful to me in subsequent discussions with my colleague. By the way, he is an ordained Baptist minister who is a Prof of History – and a very thoughtful man. Well, not to take too much of your time, but I did want you to know that I think you have “hit the mark” with this book and I look forward to volumes II and III.

Thank you sir! I wrote the books for you and your friend, so it’s good to see them doing the job I set them to do! You warm the cockles of my authorial heart! May God bless your work in the Vineyard!
