Dear Friends,

I thought I should let you all know what is going on with us.

On Sunday March 14, after a week of melting snow and rain, a wall in our basement collapsed. We were told by the city that we cannot stay in our house. The Red Cross has supplied us with temporary (until Friday) housing. After that I am not sure where we will go, though some friends have very (!) generously offered to let us stay in their finished basement.

We have had two masons and an engineer look at the house. They all say it is repairable, but whether this will be doable or not is going to depend on their estimate. There are drainage problems that need to be addressed as well as masonry problems, and the city may require architects and blueprints and other expensive things to approve repairs.

Please pray for us; this feels like walking in the dark, and it feels like what is happening interiorly mirrors the exterior: a tremendous crash that has left a gaping hole.

Pray that we can trust in God in this trial. And that we keep our perspective; many are going through much worse, all around us.

peace,

Daniel

ps: And if you don’t receive a reply promptly if you email, know that I may not get to the library any time soon…

Right now, your prayers are appreciated. If Daniel wishes, he can put his email or snail mail address in the combox for those who would like to make a monetary contribution to his plight.
