This is pretty funny

So this Tarek Fatah guy is a Canuck who is what our media types call a “moderate Muslim” (meaning, basically, a secular lefty whose views on gay marriage are indistinguishable from anybody else in the secular lefty community and whose devotion to Islam is something like Jerry Seinfeld’s devotion to Judaism or Madonna’s devotion to the Catholic faith). Anywho, he’s no friend of nuts who blow up World Trade Centers and that’s about all secular lefties want to know of the complexities of Religions of Mankind.

Canada’s political classes, like ours, are trying to figure out how to harvest votes from the growing Muslim population, just as they try, here in the US, to harvest them from every demographic group their wizards and pollsters can identify. Apparently, one pol named Jack Layton decided he was going to try a bit of suckupery to the Muslim demographic bloc with some rather silly rhetoric. Fatah has a jolly time asking, in the immortal words of Lenny Bruce’s Tonto, “What you mean ‘we’, white man?”
