Interesting observation

John Granger, erstwhile Hogwarts Professor and all around interesting guy, sends this along. I’m not clear on whether he wrote it or is just passing it along, but it seems to me to make the interesting point that modern politics is largely a sort of substitution for mystical religion. I’m not particularly convinced that the Catholic Church has “suppressed” the mystical element in our Tradition (canonizing Padre Pio is a funny way of suppressing the mystical), but I do think it true that a huge amount of present day culture can be explained as the shattered fragments of the Catholic mystical tradition wandering alone and doing tremendous damage.
