A reader writes:
My husband and I were immersed for a number of years in a church that prided itself on being “truly reformed.” When we left to become Catholic, the pastor chided us for our decision saying, and this is a direct quote, “You are joining a church based on man-made traditions and that is directly forbidden by the Westminster Confession of Faith.”
This reminds me of a conversation I once witnessed over on Steve Ray’s Catholic Converts board in which a Reformed guy, arguing that a Magisterium is unnecessary since Scripture is “perspicuous”, went on for literally hundred of entries nailing down the exact definition of of “perspicuous”. The side-splitting irony was completely lost on him.
