reminds me of this scene from the Great Divorce where the damned soul meets a former friend (now a blessed spirit in glory) who was tried and convicted as a murderer and who explains to him that the murder was the moment at which everything changed for him. The damned soul wants nothing to do with any outfit that will have the likes of murderers and announces that he’s not asking for any bleeding charity. The ex murderer replies, “Then do! At once! Ask for the Bleeding Charity!”
May the power of this sacrament bring this man the fullness of Heaven, despite his crime.
