I wonder how many Catholics are all that different from Jack Chick when it comes to this
Seriously. I wonder.
Meanwhile, in the real world of human beings as distinct from cartoons, we have this heart-breaking story:
Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish is a Gazan and a doctor who has devoted his life to medicine and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
But on Saturday, the day after three of his daughters and a niece were killed by Israeli fire in Gaza, Dr. Abuelaish, 53, struggled to hold on to the humane philosophy that has guided his life and work.As he sat in a waiting room of the Israeli hospital where he works part time, he asked over and over, “Why did they do this?”
As it happens, the Crucified One ordained that this man’s agonies be seen by the world. Israeli TV was in the middle of an interview with foreign minister Tzipi Livni when they interrupted for a phone call from Dr. Aboul Aish, a Palestinian doctor who is a regular fixture on Israeli TV.
The in-studio correspondent didn’t realize the extent of what he was about to report. As he began to question Dr. Aish, he heard the doctor’s agony.
A warning, this link is heart-wrenching.
God have mercy on Gaza.
