EU court of justice has banned patents for any stem cell technology that results in the destruction of the embryo. Since the whole reason for the push for embryonic stem cell research is to make a buck off killing unborn children, this is a body blow to the “make a buck” incentive that drives the whole damned (and I mean that literally) thing. Kudos to whoever handed down that ruling. Meanwhile, in other good news: Murder Inc. loses another battle... Read more

sends along a sample of how easily, here in the ultraviolet city of Seattle, Murder Inc. can say just about anything, no matter how ridiculous, and be taken seriously by their adherents and supporters: If one wants to see the absolute lunacy of Planned Parenthood, look no further than this quote from the Times article: “Swedish should never have been doing those things [abortions] in a hospital, anyway,” Charbonneau said. “We have really perfected the office procedure. …something is terribly, terribly wrong. Hanson thinks its really cool that the President has voted himself the power to murder American citizens without arrest, evidence, trial, judge, jury, verdict or sentence. He loves that our God King can just skip over that and order the death of 16 year old boys for the crime of having dinner in the wrong place. And note the logic of how he got there: Waterboarding, which once sparked a liberal furor, is now a... Read more

I read your blog pretty regularly (occasionally commenting as jalazar88 or Man of La Mancha), and I was wondering if you could do me a favor. . .namely, consider posting this on your blog. If you’re Dark Lordship is whimsical enough to post it, you can do it under my real name, Sean Stiennon. I’m a youngish Catholic writer seeking freelance work. My background is in History (mostly medieval) and fiction (also mostly medieval), and I hold a B.A. from... Read more

A reader writes: Comparing what they consider the Catholic Church’s historical toleration of slavery and its intolerance of homosexual marriage seems to be a favorite trope of anti-Catholic combox trolls. I myself have always been puzzled by how the Church finessed the question of slavery prior to the 19th century. Quite frankly, if I had no other choice but to parrot the following (quoting from the 1917 “Catholic Dictionary”) in an argument about this dichotomy, I would prefer not to... Read more

Been on the road all day yesterday, partly because I stoopidly set the alarm wrong and overslept, thereby missing my flight home and necessitating a re-schedule. Genius. Anyway, I note that there appears to be something wrong with the comboxes the past 24 hours. We were getting a lot of spam, so I asked the webelves to create a spam filter. As near as I can tell, it appears to have metastasized into an Everybody filter. So the webelves are... Read more
