In a minute or so, I head off to the studio to go do “Sound Insight” with Tom Curran at 8:00 AM PDT. You can stream it here. After that, we will be doing a live videocast over the web, which should be fun! You can find out more by going to Tom’s site: MyCatholicFaith.org. I’ll be back later today! Read more

for they shall obtain mercy. My discussion of the Beatitudes continues at Inside Catholic with, perhaps, the most unpopular beatitude of them all up to bat today. All the predictable category mistakes, evasions, excuses and objections are starting to emerge in the comboxes. We will shortly be informed that we don’t have to extend forgiveness to anybody who does not repent, as well as discover that I believe Hitler is in heaven, that our prisons should be flung open, that... Read more

The media orgasm continues as President Dreamboat accessorizes his White House with a major television news network, there to offer itself to him, like a woman lying naked on tiger skin rug. “Just tell us what to say and we’ll say it,” is the message of our hard-hitting investigative news media. It’s a comfort to know that our media aren’t *only* the willing slaves of Mammon, but are also eager to prostitute themselves to Caesar too. Read more

I made the argument that it is quite silly for the Left to make the argument that the government somehow does or does not “gives” rights to the unborn through laws, while simultaneously they attack the Right for torturing people, even though the government doesn’t “give” them rights. To this one of my friends forwarded this article. While it is very well written, it has several holes and invalid propositions. However, my question is about the historical discussion in part... Read more

I have recently come accross a rather strage idealism that seems to be taking hold of more and more Catholics online. It’s something I’ve not heard of until now: ‘The Gospel of Non-Violence’. I didn’t hear the proper name of it for a while, but the basic ideas I read people talking about seemed fine: “we shouldn’t promote violence as a way of resolving issues, forgiveness for your enemies, etc.” Then, to borrow a phrase from Austin Powers: “it got... Read more
