Death of a Salesman

Death of a Salesman December 4, 2013

This year, I was told repeatedly that my “noisy” approach to Christian living would discourage un-believers from coming to Christ. DeMoss explains in his article, Death of a Salesman,  how people receive God’s truth isn’t our concern.

It’s not my job to save you. It’s not my job to convince you that Christ is worth it. It’s not my job to argue the logistics of salvation with you until you are convinced that Christianity is the right fit for you. When I make it my job to save you, or to “sell” you Jesus, I am putting myself between you and the Holy Spirit. I am not allowing the Holy Spirit to touch your heart because I am so bent on changing your head.

We have been told over and over again to simply proclaim truth, yet we Christians keep trying to manipulate our audience through marketing strategies. Essentially, we keep trying to usurp God’s job.

You need Jesus. Ever single person on this planet does. Whether they believe it or not is not my problem.
