Recently on my Facebook page, I came out of the closet: I’ve been a slave to poor body image for most of my life. There were times that were good (and honestly, those were the times that I wasn’t particularly challenged), but more often than not, I loathed the way I looked. My early history isn’t much fun to talk about so I won’t — but suffice to say, by the time I was 15, I was deep into both anorexia... Read more

Piper on Nudity and Clothing “..public nudity today is not a return to innocence but rebellion against moral reality. God ordains clothes to witness to the glory we have lost, and it is added rebellion to throw them off. And for those who rebel in the other direction and make clothes themselves a means of power and prestige and attention getting, God’s answer is not a return to nudity but a return to simplicity (1 Timothy 2:9-10; 1 Peter 3:4-5).... Read more

A long time ago – 31 years this August, there was a woman just like you. She, too, was without options. She felt as though there was no way for her to care for a baby. She felt abandoned and alone most days. But she made a decision. She decided to carry that baby until the day he was born. With every passing day, she loved that baby knowing that he would likely not be hers to raise. With... Read more

It doesn’t seem to matter what sins your parents, your siblings, your spouse or your friends commit(ted), you are responsible for turning from the way of wickedness. We cannot justify our own spiritual lethargy by blaming those around us. You are responsible for ending the spiral of madness and seeking after the Lord, God of Israel, the only one true God. Great treasures are given to the righteous, but the wicked He destroys. (Reflections while reading through 1 Kings and... Read more

Earlier today I was reading 2 Chronicles 7. It is at the part where Solomon dedicates a magnificent temple to Lord God of Israel and that night, the Lord appears to Solomon and affirms that He has heard Solomon’s prayer and has chosen to dwell in the house made for Him. God promises to hear His people when they pray to Him in the temple (vs 15), and then He tells Solomon something quite remarkable, “If you will walk before... Read more

“We do not know how our words will be taken. We do not know where they will land. We do not know who will read them, who will hear them, who will misunderstand them, who will be transformed by them. But we serve the God who does know, the God who overwrites all our words. Drink deep from the waterfall of His Word, and then let the flood rip.” -Pastor Sumpter in WordFlood Read more

Here is a handy list of 7 Signs That You’re “Judging” Others. Always good to take a look at our own lives when we consider this problem. “There is a balance here between grace and truth. So don’t judge others by withholding the truth. But don’t judge them by speaking the truth without grace. Instead, give them the grace and truth of the gospel. Truth without grace is judgmental fundamentalism; grace without truth is liberal sentimentality. The gospel combines both.”   Read more

Purity is not what you do or have done. It was not lost with how you used to spend your nights. It is neither earned nor undone by your choices. Purity is the cloak Jesus earned for you on that darkest of days centuries ago on a wooden cross. Purity is a gift. It never expires or loses its value. It doesn’t not apply to certain people or circumstances, and it isn’t used up or given away. You are redeemed... Read more

Today is National Hyperemesis Gravidarum Awareness Day. I had HG throughout the entirety of all four of my pregnancies. What is Hyperemesis Gravidarum? HG is unrelenting nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. It is not the same thing as morning sickness. HG often resolves around 20 weeks, but I got lucky —  I had hypermesis gravidarum throughout my entire pregnancy all 4 times. What that means is for a collective 973 days it felt like I had food poisoning. The debilitating nausea... Read more
