The Senator from Occupy?

The Senator from Occupy? November 16, 2011

Ah, the election cycle has begun out our way! Even though I’m in Rhode Island we’re hearing the beginnings of Massachusetts’ senatorial campaign. As Professor Elizabeth Warren alluded at some venue to her part in establishing the intellectual framework for the Occupy movement, that has given some ammunition to the supporters of the incumbent Republican. They have been suggesting that should we get this evil woman, this Occupy supporter into the senate, there will be all manner of disorder, including the general collapse of civil society, and, no doubt, leading to dogs pooping on your front lawn.

It has occurred to me Elizabeth Warren may indeed be the first Occupy senator.

I know I would really like some legislators who represent the people who’ve been standing for the ninety nine percent.

And, now the first advertisement from Elizabeth Warren is being run. I know I heard this ad and I felt somewhere in my heart a leap of joy, a small sense, again, of hope…

Important work.

Saving the ninety nine percent will, after all, save the hundred percent.

And I think she may be just the right person for the job.

Certainly an important advocate for some serious reforms, the keys to our kingdom…

And I’m sure if those dogs poop, your neighbor with the doggie will have a suitable plastic bag and do the right thing.
