So, on Thursday while preparing for dinner guests, auntie said her leg hurts. And hurts bad like the other one did when she had the blood clot. So, dinner was off. We spent a fraction over eight hours at the emergency room. When Jan returned from work she came over to the hospital, so the three of us were there when the ER doc came in and said, effectively, good news, bad news. Couldn’t find any trace of a clot.... Read more

Here’s something I wrote for my next book, Field Notes From a Zen Life, due sometime in 2012 by Wisdom Publications, from the front matter…   I am a Zen priest, but I am also a UU minister and have spent twenty years serving in UU congregations. How in the world did he know that’s exactly what I needed? Ah, mysterious karma… The Impressionists Two-Stephttp://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=34240439,t=1,mt=videoPop Wagner | Myspace Music Videos Read more

So, there I was, yesterday, standing in Ocean State Job Lot, throwing cans of sardines, tuna & salmon into my cart, food that will go into the back of the pantry against worst case scenarios. Feeling good about that, I headed toward where I hoped to find bottles of water. As I turned onto the aisle, my way was blocked by a man a bit younger than me talking to a woman a great deal older than either of us.... Read more

UU World, the Unitarian Universalist magazine cleaned up and published something I wrote a while ago. They made it pretty good, I thought… I’ve said here and there how I tend to feel my Web presence is a bit kinder and more thoughtful than the person I am in “real life.” Which has led me to consider a bit how we think of ourselves as selves, what is set and what is optional. For the rest of the story, here... Read more
