Muslim for Trump Sajid Tarar Gives Invocation at RNC – Bad? Questionable? Whaaaaaaat?
Sajid Tarar, a Muslim supporter of Donald J. Trump, was the last person to take the stage on Tuesday night of the Republican National Convention, after most convention watchers had already started moving en masse towards the exits, according to The Washington Post. In his brief invocation, he said “Let’s pray to get our country back,” and invoked the Prophet Muhammad, saying “the values reflected by our leader must reflect the values of our forefathers.”
He was cheered. And booed by those in the audience and folks all over social media and watching from their own homes. But you have to wonder what was it that led convention organizers and Trump to invite Tarar to speak, in a time when the party (and Trump) has consistently vilified Muslims. Tarar only said he had wanted to “speak since a long time at a convention,” so he met with the Trump campaign and they agreed.
Okaaaaaay.
But forget Tarar – Antonio Sabato Jr was the real head shaker at the RNC.
