athos1Time Magazine recently featured a long report on Vladimir Putin’s  mysterious visit to Mt Athos, a Greek Island solely inhabited by monks. Athos is considered to be one of the most Holy places on earth for the Russian Orthodox faithful.

According to legend the Virgin Mary , accompanied by St John the Evangelist, was sailing on her way to Cyprus to visit Lazarus. When the ship was blown off course  it was forced to drop anchor near what is now the port of Klement on Mt. Athos.. “The Virgin walked ashore and, overwhelmed by the wonderful and wild natural beauty of the mountain she blessed it and asked her Son for it to be her garden. A voice was heard; “let this place be your inheritance and your garden, a paradise and a haven of salvation for those seeking to be saved”. Since that moment the mountain was consecrated as the garden of the Mother of God and is out of bounds to any other women.”

vlad_athosNot much is known about Putin’s activities on the mysterious island other than he went there to pray.  To some Kremlin observers Putin’s Orthodox faith is at the root of Putin’s world view and that he sees the rising tensions between the West and Russia from a religious point of view.

Cultures are clashing. Putin sees an aggressive secular west determined to export its globalist views on the Russian people who reject the west’s core values which they believe are deeply immoral. Putin and the Russian people believe they are in Syria, in part, to stop the genocide against Christians in the Middle east.  Make no mistake about it,  Putin understands that the rising tensions between the United States and Russia are wholly manifested by the West’s relentless pursuit of removing God from society. Was Putin’s  visit to Mt. Athos a last ditch effort  full of prayer to avoid a seemingly inevitable “Holy War”?

Putin’s Christian faith is almost impossible for our main stream media to comprehend or accept as genuine. Corporate media is attached to the naive narrative that Russia is seeking to reclaim its old  superpower status and that Putin is a KGB, therefore atheist, thug bent on world domination.  It’s just not the case. Peter Hitchens writes in a brilliant article of his frustration of getting smart people to understand today’s Russia: “The comparison of today’s Russia to yesterday’s U.S.S.R. is baseless. I know this, and rage inwardly at my inability to convey my understanding to others.

Simply put Putin is a devout Christian and Hillary Clinton perhaps not so much yet Hillary clings to a dangerous and simplistic view of a man who controls the largest nuclear arsenal in the world.

Hillary famously said Putin “Has no soul”.  She relentlessly calls Russia our adversary which is a polite word for enemy.

She has even compared him to Hitler.

In a story ignored by the main stream press Hillary threatened a military attack against Russia: “You’ve seen the reports. Russia’s hacked into a lot of things, Russia even hacked into the Democratic National Committee. Maybe even some state election systems? So we gotta step up our game. Make sure we are well defended and make sure we are able to take the fight to those who go after us. As president I will make it clear that the United States will treat cyber attacks by Russia just like any other attack. We will be ready with serious political, economic and military responses.

Hillary Clinton Could Easily Push America into Open Conflict with Russia

One especially disturbing trend in global affairs is the marked deterioration in relations between the United States and Russia. Much will depend on the outcome of the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Donald Trump has staked out a reasonably conciliatory policy toward Moscow. And in the highly improbable event that Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson emerged victorious, the United States would certainly pursue a less interventionist, confrontational foreign policy toward Russia as well as other countries.

But Trump and a handful of other dissenters have triggered the wrath of the foreign-policy establishment by daring to suggest that Washington’s Russia policy may be unwise and that the two countries have important mutual interests. Most anti-Russian hawks are backing Hillary Clinton, and the implications of a Clinton victory are extremely ominous. When Russia annexed Crimea, Clinton comparedRussian president Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler—a comparison so extreme that it drew dissents even from some usual supporters. Yet there is no doubt that she would take a very hard line toward Moscow. Among other things, Clinton recommended that the United States impose a no-fly zone in Syria despite the risk that it could mean shooting down Russian military aircraft that were operating at the request of the Syrian government. Anyone who is that reckless is not likely to retreat from confrontations in eastern Europe or other arenas. Indeed, she has already called for not only more financial assistance but more military aid to Ukraine.
