Religion is a business.

The church, along with other religious organizations, has learned the art of spinning everything in its favor to ensure its longevity.

The cross that began as an unfortunate embarrassment has become a money-making machine.

  • Well, how would we actually build megachurches if we embraced a cross that was a “stumbling block” and a gospel that was “foolishness?” What if we stopped spinning and just let the Holy Spirit speak to people? Everyone knows the Holy Spirit doesn’t punch a clock – he just shows up whenever and might not meet our growth quotas.

And it threatens you with eternal damnation if you do not buy into their product.

  • Ouch – that kicks 95% of Christianity out the window.

Love the fictional apostles in suits.

But I must make a “historical” objection to the drawing — if the suits are the 12 disciples:

Judas hung himself. So that makes 11. And it wasn’t until well after Jesus’ ascension that Matthias was chosen by throwing dice so they could get it back up to 12. (Barsabbas, loss the dice roll — I wonder if anyone did a fiction work about that character)

But hell, it is all fictional anyway — one more cartoon lie is fine by me. Wink!

*fictional = did not write the gospels.

  • With everyone claiming to hear a holy spirit, I think I will just ignore that language, if you don’t mind <a href="http://www.thechurchofnopeople.com/"Matt Appling. (btw, I supplied the correct link for your name)
