freebie friday: win a wolf

The eastern philosopher Krishnamurti said that the desire to be something was the worst kind of deception, an fantasy escape from the what-is-now.

Here’s something else.

Vain and deceptive hopes are for the foolish,
and dreams put fools in a flutter.
As well clutch at shadows and chase the wind
as put any faith in dreams.
Mirror and dream are similar things:
confronting a face, the reflection of that face…
Divinations, signs and dreams are nonsense,
like delirious fancies…
Unless sent as messengers from the Most High,
do not give them a second thought.
For dreams have led many astray,
and those building their hopes on them have been disappointed.
Fulfilling the law requires no such falsehood,
and wisdom is most perfectly expressed by truthful lips.

What are your thoughts on this passage? It is from a wisdom book also known as Wisdom of Jesus son of Sirach, considered deuterocanonical by most of the Christian church (excluding Protestants who reject it as any kind of canonical). The apostle Paul would agree. In fact, in the Corinthian letters he says that even if he did have visions and revelations he wouldn’t tell people because he wouldn’t want his self-report to draw attention. It was whether he spoke and lived the truth that mattered.
