Completing the Past and Moving Forward

Completing the Past and Moving Forward December 30, 2016

It has been a busy year for the board of CUUPS.  We accomplished a lot. We look forward to the challenges of next year.

There will be more Convocations!  We sent twenty-two applications this week to chapters interested. We will be setting up the next 5-6 years of convocations, in a variety of regions around country.

With our voices raised, we took stands on social justice, intrafaith and interfaith issues this past year.  Read the resolutions by clicking here!  Among these have been:

  • We joined in Solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Nation and their actions against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Water is Life! The board and membership voted to adopt a resolution about Consent CultureOur events and chapters will now be places in which asking for consent is normalized and encouraged.
  • A statement by Faith in Public Life was signed by CUUPS asking congress to “reject a cabinet of bigotry &  hate.”

Next Year…

Watch for an upcoming book from Skinner House Press, “Pagan & Earth-Centered Voices of Unitarian Universalism” by Shirley Ann Ranck and Jerrie Hildebrand. This is a compilation of essays from various UU’s and allies who honor these faith traditions and philosophies. Release May/June 2017.

General Assembly 2017 will be in New Orleans with CUUPS Annual Summer Solstice Ritual on the program! Look for more activities at the CUUPS Booth, and new GA Parade & Booth Banners

On tap, new ways to support members and chapters. We recognize the need for this and are assessing the most productive ways to move forward. Feel free to send suggestions and thoughts to us. If you want to volunteer let us know!

Have a fabulous beginning to your new year!
