30 Things I'm Thankful For at Mt Vernon August 28, 2013

Mt Vernon logoI write a lot about life and ministry on this blog, but every once in awhile I need to stop and brag on the incredible people I get to walk alongside at Mt Vernon. If you don’t attend Mt Vernon, you may not know all the people I mention. I wish I could mention more, but I stopped at thirty. Here are some things I’m thankful for at Mt Vernon:

  1. Trust in the staff to lead the church
  2. No church politics
  3. People genuinely like each other
  4. Newcomers truly feel welcomed by our members
  5. Quality worship every week
  6. Small town, community feel
  7. Forward thinking senior adults
  8. Youth volunteers that are intentional about relationships
  9. A place where the de-churched feel welcome
  10. Brad Lytle pouring his passion into KidZone
  11. Flexible hours friendly to staff family
  12. A place where out-of-state Air Force can feel at home
  13. Wises always seeking out new folks
  14. Lynn and Sandy Robinson volunteering week in and week out
  15. An awesome band that plays for free
  16. Jack Kanemura with a smile on his face
  17. Absolutely stellar KidZone
  18. Rick Saucer and Jeff Abrams at their door, every Sunday at 8:30 am
  19. Safe, secure, and loving DiscoveryZone environment
  20. A church culture where everyone volunteers
  21. Danny Holman parking cars
  22. A staff that loves to laugh together
  23. Susie Andrews.
  24. An informal atmosphere where we can actually have fun at church
  25. Simplified church calendar for families
  26. Youth stay involved even when they’re in college
  27. I get to preach in jeans
  28. My son Zeke absolutely loving KidZone
  29. Being able to be a part of Lawanda’s story
  30. Mrs. Laney’s biscuits
