I write a lot about life and ministry on this blog, but every once in awhile I need to stop and brag on the incredible people I get to walk alongside at Mt Vernon. If you don’t attend Mt Vernon, you may not know all the people I mention. I wish I could mention more, but I stopped at thirty. Here are some things I’m thankful for at Mt Vernon:
- Trust in the staff to lead the church
- No church politics
- People genuinely like each other
- Newcomers truly feel welcomed by our members
- Quality worship every week
- Small town, community feel
- Forward thinking senior adults
- Youth volunteers that are intentional about relationships
- A place where the de-churched feel welcome
- Brad Lytle pouring his passion into KidZone
- Flexible hours friendly to staff family
- A place where out-of-state Air Force can feel at home
- Wises always seeking out new folks
- Lynn and Sandy Robinson volunteering week in and week out
- An awesome band that plays for free
- Jack Kanemura with a smile on his face
- Absolutely stellar KidZone
- Rick Saucer and Jeff Abrams at their door, every Sunday at 8:30 am
- Safe, secure, and loving DiscoveryZone environment
- A church culture where everyone volunteers
- Danny Holman parking cars
- A staff that loves to laugh together
- Susie Andrews.
- An informal atmosphere where we can actually have fun at church
- Simplified church calendar for families
- Youth stay involved even when they’re in college
- I get to preach in jeans
- My son Zeke absolutely loving KidZone
- Being able to be a part of Lawanda’s story
- Mrs. Laney’s biscuits
