Standing ovation for killing seven-pound babies

Most of you know by now that the New York Legislature passed a law recently that allows abortion up until the last day of pregnancy.  Non-doctors may now abort.  When only 13% of Americans support abortion in the third trimester, New York legislators gave this bill a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes.

I am grateful to be a part of Evangelicals and Catholics Together, who released this statement yesterday at the First Things website.

Here are two excerpts from the statement: [B]efore birth, and even in the very process of being born, [babies] are now deemed not to have rights that society is obliged to respect. This perverse view of human rights is irrational and incoherent. Its result is the unjust killing of many millions of those who are indisputably human beings and the undoing of the very concept of human rights.

“No follower of Jesus Christ can stand on the side of death and destruction. We appeal to our fellow Christians, and to all Americans, to join with us in decrying this legislation and in upholding and honoring the dignity of every human being. For the Lord Jesus came that ‘they may have life and have it abundantly.'”
