Entry Door Makeover

Entry Door Makeover

When I completed my Stairway Gallery Wall, one thing that stuck out was my Peach Front Entry door. It was the last of the original paint from when we purchased our house and needed to go!

One thing our home lacks is a formal foyer. When you come in our front door, you immediately walk into an open living space, our den. I wanted to create a feel of foyer, but didn’t have the space to separate it into it’s own room.

We had painted the walls and trim, but that front door needed a makeover!
We were given this gorgeous antique Hall Tree from Trent’s mother. It was in his
house while he was growing up where he recalls sitting in the chair and pretending to be Conan.
How cute is that?!
It had been sitting in a storage shed for almost a decade, so when they offered it to us, we were so excited to bring it home, but it looked awful next to that peach door! It stuck out like a sore thumb, but I knew I didn’t want to paint it white.

So – to keep me sane and my hands soft, we used the leftover paint from our Farmhouse Kitchen Remodel.
It is Sherwin Williams Dovetail SW 7018.
Here’s how I paint my door to get the flawless lines:
I follow the numbers and start with the inside panels.  I finish off with the long side panels making sure to keep all the paint lines neat and straight.
Trent took off the weathered brass knob and deadbolt and spray painted them with Oil Rubbed Bronze.

Before and After

Now it ties in beautifully with my Stairway Gallery Wall and I LOVE my new hall tree.

I have already watched as my boys mimicked their father
playing king on the throne!
The tradition continues.

And now I have my Entryway!
