How to decorate with glass

How to decorate with glass July 13, 2016
Y’all know I love junkin’.
Y’all know I crush on Milk Glass, but there another item that stops me in my tracks when I find them.
Vintage glass bottles.

They are so dreamy, bright and clear, reflecting the light as it passes through, adding dimension without the bulk.

There is one glass item that I have hunted and hunted for with complete failure.

Demijohns

Do you know what they are? They are large, European, bulbous blown glass pieces with a narrow neck. Sometimes they are covered in wicker and they. are. HUGE!

I found this picture on Instagram that Rene from Painted Goodness shared on her page.

She has loads of yummy demijohns that she uses to style her awesome furniture.

When I finally came across some, they were really pricey – like hundreds of dollars kinda pricey. And I mentioned they are huge, like too-big-to-put-in-a-house-with-boys kind of huge.

Way too expensive for my little budget, especially when I can think of all the other things I can buy at that price.

So the other day I went to a church yard sale and came across a steal!

No, this isn’t a demijohn, but it’s a wine bottle.

The label was faded, but it wasn’t vintage. It was only a quarter, folks!! I snatched it up right away and came home and got out my goo remover and voila – insty-demijohn!

Not to bad for quarter!

I paired it up with a rusty, old pulley I found for a couple of bucks and my
DIY Ballards Books.

Do you all decorate with glass? Have you come across a DIY steal that mimics an antique? I’d love to hear all about it – leave me a comment below. I love to hear from my readers.
