Coelho Supports P2P

Brazilian esoteric author, Paulo Coelho, who is best known for his fictional novel The Alchemist, mentioned in his January 28, 2012 blog post that peer to peer sharing site Pirate Bay would promote artists on their front page with a link to their work. Since then Coelho’s picture has been on the main page of Pirate Bay. P2P sites are often used to obtain copyrighted material. Coelho says the sales of his works are increasing thanks to p2p sharing and that it makes a point against greed. Coelho’s work is published through Harper which is a large business. It is a lot harder for esoteric and occult authors who publish independently or through a small publisher to earn a living. I don’t know if p2p increases their sales or not. Writing a book can take months and even years. If we want to continue reading occult books, we must support the authors by purchasing their work instead of pirating it.

The Guardian “Rod Liddle’s attack on disability cannot be ignored” by Francis Ryan
British journalist Rod Liddle treats disability as a joke saying everyone should “pretend” for benefits. He doesn’t understand what it’s like to live with a disability or an unseen one.
