The Japanese love momiji – the red leaves of autumn, especially maple leaves. Indeed the red maple has come to symbolise autumn in Japan. European and American woodlands and parks are beautiful in the autumn as well, and now is the perfect time to go for walks in the forest and look at them. Traditionally, the Japanese also collected autumn leaves; western Pagans too enjoy doing this to put on their altars.
