Ramadhan 2016 – Day 11 (Yusuf)

Ramadhan 2016 – Day 11 (Yusuf) June 16, 2016

quran day 10

After the first chapters on messengership (Ch 10 and 11), Ch 12 (Yusuf) largely focuses on the personal journey of yusuf. His journey from the expulsion from his home, to finding a home with the aziz to being seduced by the aziz’s wife, to being imprisoned to finally being raised to office by king is perhaps the most detailed archetype in Quran. Quran declares that the essence of the  story of yusuf and his brothers (it is important to remember that his brothers are also included) are said to be for the seekers (12/7), something not afforded to any other story in Quran. What this means is, for what human beings seek in life, the wisdom needed is found in yusuf’s story.

Unlike any other detailed story in Quran, yusuf’s story is also told only in one chapter.

This chapter is also begins and ends with the topic of Quran and its contents. It starts with the idea of the faultless reading that we may think (12/2). The entire Quran is said to have the best relationships which are related on us. If it were not for these stories, we would have been neglectors (12/3). The chapter also ends with Quran but first formulates the story of the messengers (12/108). In 12/111, it tells us what the stories are for as archetypes for people of the core. The stories are also not invented (meaning they must happen), a confirmation of what is between Quran’s capacities, a detailed exposition of every thing, a means of evolution for those who continuously believe.

From this, we can see how the story of yusuf operates vis-à-vis Quran itself.
