Ramadhan 2016 – Day 10 (Hud)

Chapter 11(Hud) is the second chapter in the ALR series. It is very much like Ch 7 (just like Ch 6 is very much like Ch 10). The similarities are in that both Ch 7 and 11 start out with the notion of God’s eternal system, called ‘kitaab’ and they both have sequential narratives of Quranic personalities.

Ch 11 is unique in the sense that the ‘kitaab’ actually speaks and articulates its intent and purpose. It also declares a challenge to bring a mix of discourses to rival it.

Ch 11 also has the second longest rendition of the story of Nuh (Vs 25-49) where his story is told from beginning to end, including the loss of his son. This rendition almost as long as Ch 71 which is entirely about Nuh!

The chapter closes with an action plan to the establish the system of peace (Vs 112 onwards). Establishing the connection twice a day and vivifying Allah becomes paramount. They are to remain patient with this. The final goal is to establish the singular ummah of humankind. All the stories of the messengers are told for this purpose.
