VP candidate Senator Joe Biden weighs in with his beliefs on abortion.
Following Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s statements on Meet The Press, Senator Biden comes along to explain that the question of when life begins is a matter of faith. As a Catholic, he “believes” that life begins at conception, but he votes against restricting abortion because he doesn’t want to impose that view on others who think differently.
Hmmmm…..I wonder if he thinks other civil rights issues are matters of faith which are not to be “imposed” on others?
If someone is asked when life begins and they claim that they don’t know, or that it’s a matter of faith, or that it happens down the line, then the next question should be, “Well, what happens at conception then? What is that single cell entity and why is it a self contained organism?”
In the case of abortion, the Catholic Church is not proclaiming a dogma of faith. Rather, it’s confirming a fact of nature. Science has confirmed when human life begins. Hopefully, faith does not blind one to the reality of science.
