Uranus Pluto and the Full Moon September 2012

Uranus Pluto and the Full Moon September 2012 September 27, 2012

This weekend we have a major Full Moon that exactly aspects the Uranus Pluto square. (This square dominates the astro picture 2011-2015. Here’s a link to one of my articles about it.) The second pass of the Uranus Pluto square was exact last week on Sept 19. As they move so slowly, the two planets are still closely connected and we feel their effects for weeks on either side of exactitude. They are still both at 7 degrees, of Aries and Capricorn respectively.

Just on the heels of their exact squaring, along comes a Full Moon at 7 degrees of Aries, with the Sun of course at 7 degrees Libra. (The Moon is always opposite the Sun in the sky at the Full Moon, obviously, as it is the light of the Sun shining directly on the Moon that makes it appear “Full” to us). The Full Moon is exact September 29 at 23:19 US East coast and September 30 04:19 UK, 13:19 Sydney. This Full Moon is known as the Harvest Moon because it is the nearest Full Moon to the Autumn Equinox.

The Full Moon is often a time when emotions are heightened and issues come to a head. It can be a time when we lose a sense of proportion, worry unduly, and have sleepless nights. It can be a time of enlightenment and increased awareness, especially of our emotional patterning and our assumptions about ourselves and about life. It highlights the ways in which these habitual responses are and are not useful or truthful.

This Full Moon, illuminating as it does those areas of the sky occupied by 6-9 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) gives those of us with personal planets and angles at these degrees direct insight into aspects of ourselves and our lives that may have caused us trouble, especially in recent times. (The personal planets and luminaries are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars, and the angles are the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven and Nadir of the birth chart.) These are likely to also be aspects of ourselves or of life itself that have somehow eluded our attention or comprehension. We all have blind spots, and major outer planetary aspects, especially when heightened by the Full Moon, can shine a light on an area that has been in the shadows for us. When we confront shadow material we always have to break through a layer of misunderstanding or blocking in our consciousness.

So be prepared for, and open to, a new awareness of who you are and what you are doing with this precious life. For example — if the Sun is being aspected, questions about your profession and core roles are likely to be uppermost. If it’s the Moon, are you being truthful about your needs for security, or about how you relate to women? If Venus is involved, do you have a pattern of being too nice, especially to people who are not actually very nice to you? And how are you with money, really? If Mercury is impacted, look at your communication patterns and your nervous system. If Mars, look at how you use your physical energy — too demanding and stressful, or too lazy and ineffectual?

Pluto calls us to power, truth and effectiveness, Uranus to being willing to shake things up to move forward and evolve. When the Full Moon lands in the same part of the sky, all of this is lit up as if by a firework show, and it behooves us to pay close attention. But don’t get caught up in unnecessary drama. Some of what we do and say this weekend can be the shadow talking from an unrealized place. If you are uncertain about the truth of your words, it may be advisable to keep quiet. Keep drilling down deep, and wait for calmer times to say your piece.

May the Full Moon bring many blessings to all.
