Finding Peace in Jesus

Finding Peace in Jesus May 22, 2024
 by John C. Preiss
Reflecting on this particular subject brings me back to the time of my conversion to the catholic faith.  Adoring Jesus in the Eucharist transformed my life.  I made many visits to the local Catholic Church sitting in front of Jesus and sharing my heart.  Today in our society, it is difficult to find peace in a world filled with constant noise and distractions. However, for us who seek spiritual healing and renewal, Eucharistic Adoration offers a profound and transformative experience. I have seen this happen in my own life and with people who are close to me.  It is such a beautiful witness to see the transformation and renewal of so many who fall in love with the hidden Jesus.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?

Eucharistic Adoration is a practice within the Catholic tradition where the Blessed Sacrament the consecrated host that represents the body of Christ. After the Priest consecrates the host, it is displayed in a monstrance for adoration and prayer.  This sacred practice allows us to spend time in the presence of Jesus Christ, who is truly present in the Eucharist. Also, it allows us to engage in silent prayer, reflection, and contemplation.

Adoration Allows Us to Heal

The heart of Eucharistic Adoration through this intimate encounter with Christ, we can experience healing in so many ways. As we adore the Eucharist it is a way to connect with Jesus and to offer our worries, fears. One of the key aspects of Eucharistic Adoration is the opportunity for silence and stillness. The world is constantly buzzing with activity and noise so to sit in quiet contemplation before the Blessed Sacrament can be a powerful antidote to the stress of our everyday life.

Adoration Allows us to Experience Peace

In this peaceful setting, we can let go of our anxieties and concerns. This allows our minds and hearts to be open totally to the presence of Jesus.  This brings forth a profound effect on our soul and healing in our life. The act of gazing upon the Eucharist is seen as a way for all to receive spiritual nourishment and strength.  Adoration creates the opportunity for us to be filled with a deep sense of peace.

Spending Time with Jesus Creates Community

Eucharistic Adoration also allows us to find a sense of community and connection with others who share the faith.  As we come together to worship and adore the Eucharist it creates a sense of solidarity among us.  I am fortunate to live close to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.   This beautiful Shrine offers all of us an opportunity to visit Jesus daily in the Holy Eucharist.  They have even taken it a step further and monthly they host the Adoration Sodality.
In addition to its spiritual benefits, Eucharistic Adoration also helps us with physical and emotional healing.  Most who engage in adoration report feeling a sense of calming and peace. Even among non-Catholics a sense of peace is felt. The act of surrendering our worries and troubles to God during Eucharistic Adoration is powerful and healing.  Because of this, we find comfort and solace in the presence of Christ.

“Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you – for you alone? He burns with the desire to come into your heart…don’t listen to the demon, laugh at him, and go without fear to receive the Jesus of peace and love…” -St. Therese of Lisieux

Conclusion

In conclusion, Eucharistic Adoration offers an opportunity for spiritual healing for us in our daily lives.  In a world that is often filled with chaos and turmoil, Eucharistic Adoration offers a sanctuary of stillness and grace. Also, it allows us to come and be renewed in body, mind, and spirit. After this takes place, you will find a peace that is found in no other place. In the presence of Jesus.
