How many people do you have to kill before you’re not pro life anymore?

Trump and his puppet Republicans in Congress were well warned that his cuts to the National Weather Service would result in tragedy.

Prominent meteorologists and news outlets spoke out against Trump’s cuts to the National Weather Service and NOAA while the cuts were happening four months ago. They warned him in a very public way that people would die because of what he was doing.

Now 27 little girls are dead and 51 others are missing due inadequate warning about floods in Texas.

A prominent meteorologist in Florida spoke out against Trump’s cuts to the NWS while the cuts were happening.

So many honest people have been threatened, smeared and fired from their jobs for using their freedom of speech to criticize Trump, I think we should honor those with the courage and morals to speak up. Brave people who did not want blood on their hands because they stayed silent spoke out against the cuts to the National Weather Service.

The dead children in Texas — the number was up to 51 missing and 27 girls confirmed dead the last time I checked — would probably be alive today if the National Weather Service had been functioning the way it did before Trump took over.

Republicans control both houses of Congress. They could have stopped these cuts anytime they wanted. But they rubber stamped it. Just like they rubber stamped Trump’s “big beautiful bill” last week. That bill contains further cuts to NOAA and the National Weather Service; massive cuts.  All so 813 billionaires can spend the money that once saved our lives on more rocket ships, yachts and private islands.

Trump is ripping the guts out of our government in order to transfer the funds to a few billionaires, and the Republicans in Congress are helping him do it.

That’s why the billionaire crowd has been knocking each other down in the rush to kiss Trump’s ring. A lot of people are going to die to make 813 billionaires richer. That brings up a serious question for those of us who believe life begins at conception, and that it does not end at birth: How many people do you have to kill before you’re not pro life anymore?

From The New Republic:

Veteran meteorologist John Morales opened his segment with a six-year old clip of him accurately reporting on the path of Hurricane Dorian.

“Confidently, I went on TV and I told you, ‘It’s going to turn. You don’t need to worry. It is going to turn,’” he said, referring to the NWS’s hurricane prediction ability. “And I am here to tell you that I am not sure I can do that this year, because of the cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science in general.… This is a multigenerational impact on science in this country.”

NWS sites are around 20 to 40 percent understaffed right now. There has been “nearly 20 percent reduction in weather balloon releases, launches, that carry those radio signs. And what we’re starting to see is that the quality of the forecast is becoming degraded because of some of these cuts,” he added.

“There is also a chance that … NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft will not be able to fly this year. And with less reconnaissance missions, we may be flying blind. And we may not exactly know how strong a hurricane is before it reaches the coastline.”

The made massive cuts to NWS  caused the agency to lose 600 employees. Multiple local field offices had a vacancy rate of over 20 percent as of March, causing anxiety to rise as we enter hurricane season.

The NWS’s mission is “protection of life and property.” The cuts are stopping them from doing that. More people will be in harm’s way with less information because of decisions made by Donald Trump.
