Fortunately, I’m not really sure anyone is still singing this one, but I have to include it, just in case. What makes this song so terrible is the poetry. With its You/Thee indecision, the inverted “apple of my eye” reference, the complete decontextualization of Psalm 42, and just plain weirdness (joy-giver? really?!?), it’s just dreadful. We can do better.
