Easter is Coming

Easter is Coming

I'm right on the edge of renaming this blog Oh Look it's Snowing. That way I won't have to begin each new day prying my eyes open and saying, with all due sincerity, Oh Look, What a Shock, It's Snowing. All of us will just know that that's the new order of the world, the New Normal. My weather app actually says that it's not snowing, that it's just cloudy. So that's funny.

I mean, of course it's snowing. It's mid March. Only a week and a half more before April. What else would you want, than the gentle and continual falling of snow? With a a modicum of freezing rain every now and then to make it all super fun.

Any way, I will have to go out in it this morning with Elphine and look for an Easter dress for her, and some thick easter tights for all the girls, and some heavy easter mud boots, and some thick woolen Easter sweaters. Romulus picked out his Easter clothes last week–a pair of woolen grey trousers, a grey old man sweater and a purple tie. It's actually completely cute, and plenty warm. The girls have been more of a trial.

I am, in spite of all the complaining, pretty excited about Holy Week and Easter, as indeed I always am. Even if it's going to be snowing, it's all our favorite week of the year. The kids have worked hard on school the last many weeks so that they'll be able to have a true break. They have been arguing and negotiating about acolyte opportunities. They have been reminding each other of what the week holds–decorating eggs, eating lots of junk food, going to church every night, celebrating the Last Supper during Sunday School. As for me, today I am going to make the beginnings of all my lists, the food list, the clothes list, the detailed schedule, the Easter basket list, and so on and all forth. Matt is studying and getting a head start on sermons. I guess I should pay attention to that too.

So, there we are. The count down seriously begins. Hope you all have a lovely day, if you want to.
