My daily Bible verse for today was the following from the book of Isaiah:
“Even youths shall faint and be weary,
Isaiah 40:30-31
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
It’s an important reminder that being young doesn’t exclude anybody from inevitable exhaustion during tough, stressful times. Youth won’t prevent anybody from feeling wiped out.
Another important thing to remember when reading this verse is that this weariness isn’t limited to physical exhaustion. This also includes mental and emotional weariness that can overwhelm anybody for a multitude of reasons, such as depression, anxiety, and prolonged stress; these are issues that my generation deals with heavily.
In fact, research done in the last few years has determined that millennials suffer stress more than any other generation. The stress that we youngsters face from increasing financial issues, struggling to find employment, and finding manageable places to live in leads us to feel like we could collapse at any minute.
At those times, we need God to lift us back up and rejuvenate us. If we try to force ourselves to recover all on our own, we’re bound to fail. We humans can only go so far on our own, and we need God to raise our spirits when it seems life has conquered us.
Let us all trust Him fully to be the support we need when weariness of any sort threatens to paralyze us.
