Have you seen, read, or heard declarations of “Black love?” Maybe, it was a hashtag on social media or words on a t-shirt. In case you are unaware, our world has been experiencing a movement in “Black love.” Black love is love. And love is beautiful. Black love uplifts strong and healthy families, individuals, relationships, and communities. It uplifts our world. By the way, I love Black people. My love for Black people does not require and indicate that I... Read more

The terrorist attack on the mosque in Ōtautahi- Christchurch, New Zealand presents a time to spread love. It presents an opportunity to put the kind of tenacity for justice towards White supremacists that many of us had (and still have) towards Middle Eastern people involved in terrorism. Upon finding out about the mass-murder, I sobbed, mourning the lives lost and impacted by this atrocity. As I write this post about last week—another week of quitting the Bible (Days 252-258), tears... Read more

Allegations of sexual misconduct, from sexual assault to sex trafficking, have been levied against R. Kelly and Harvey Weinstein. The expanded reach of #MeToo movement has increased public support for justice, accountability, restitution involving such men who have wielded tremendous influence. It is easy to decry the actions of some distant person, whether a celebrity or a random person on the local news, for their alleged criminal behavior. After all, the personal risk for calling attention to the ills of... Read more

Until I had my first health crisis years ago, I did not appreciate good health to extent of my current perspective. Like most active and thriving people, I felt invincible and took it for granted. One of the many lessons I have learned on my healing journey is to appreciate all there is in the now-to be more present. You and I do not need adversity in our lives to appreciate any part of it more. We can do it... Read more

Jussie Smollett has been indicted on 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct in relation to orchestrating his hate crime attack. Smollett’s alleged motive was not a noble cause for the plight of 40% of  Black LGBTQ youth who have been bullied on school property. It was not for the 30% of  Black LGBTQ youth wo have been physically threatened because of their LGBTQ identity. It was not for the 90% of the Black LGBTQ youth who have experienced racial discrimination.... Read more

Life is better without hell. It is. I used to live devoted to keeping hell alive and well in my spiritual paradigm. I mean, how can we live without hell? Take away hell, and the entire universe would implode. Removing hell would have cataclysmic metaphysical reverberations. It would rip all scientific progress in string theory to shreds. Similarly, certain church teachings and religious norms suggest that believing in hell keeps us on the straight and narrow path of saintly living.... Read more

A person who left the United States to join a terrorist organization wants to return to the United States. Is this some kind of political dramedy of prodigal daughter meets liberal sympathy? Mainstream news decided that all of the nation-the world- needed to turn our attention to Hoda Muthana, commonly referred to as an “ISIS Bride” by the media, daughter of a former U.S. diplomat, who became radicalized while attending business school in Alabama. Hoda Muthana left the United States... Read more

Have you ever thought you were over something from your past, but the smallest incident sent you right back there? I thought I was over it. I thought I was healed from something in my past. Last week, during days 231-237 of my year of quitting the Holy Bible, I recognized I was not over it. It Appears I felt terrific. I was going about my own merry and introverted way in life, when a seemingly little and small incident with... Read more

Earlier this week, I found out about the tragic death of Tamla Horsford. She had attended an adult overnight slumber party with nine women and three men. On the next morning, she was found dead in the backyard. She leaves behind five children and a husband. Her family and friends had been trying with little avail to get more movement on her case. Between November 4, 2018 until this week, the case was gliding under the radar with just a... Read more

Over a decade ago, a person in formal leadership at the church I attended stated  in a conversation that the Bible was not the infallible word of God. Gasp. To say I was taken aback would  put it lightly. I was utterly mortified that a person of much spiritual influence would state these words. I questioned the validity of his Christianity. I thought the Bible was synonymous with God. Because I believed that the Bible was the living, breathing word... Read more
