When #4 got sick with arthritis, there was an outpouring of love from my blog readers who loved her fighting spirit wanted to know how they could help. I didn’t know what to tell them, because I couldn’t think of anything.
When she was sick from the chemo and spent all day curled up on the couch, you asked again “How can we help?” I asked for prayers and had no other ideas.
When she was in the accident earlier this year that broke her jaw and knocked out her teeth, you asked one more time and again I didn’t know.
But today I do.
In June, she turned 9. She spent all of her birthday money on a sweet bird she named Mrs Weasley. If she was awake and at home, he was with her. (Yes, Mrs Weasley was a boy. Don’t ask.) Last night he got sick and this morning he died. She had only had him for two months.

Today has been tears and hard questions. Mostly “Why do all the bad things happen to me?” I don’t know the answer to that question but it seems like a good one to ask. I’d like to know the answer to it myself.
This evening she is talking about wanting a new bird. I’m talking to her about finding a reputable breeder and maybe a sturdier bird than a parakeet. She looked through pictures and really likes cockatiels. The problem is the cost. A hand raised and already tame cockatiel costs $70-100. (A hand raised parakeet costs $40, just FYI.) plus she would need a slightly larger cage than the one she has now.
You wanted to know where you could help, and the answer is here. She spent all her money on Mrs W, and her dad and I don’t have the money in the budget after blowing it on frivolous things like school books and groceries.
Our goal is $200 for the bird, the bigger cage, and some food for him.You keep asking where you can help, and at last I have an answer for you. Here. Please help here.
