Once upon a time, on a whim, we drove from Texas to Washington DC because we wanted to eat at her favorite diner on New Year’s Eve. There was a time that I undertook the most harrowing journey ever, just to spend a weekend hanging out with her in Houston. She was my college roommate and my Girl Scout buddy. She’s been my voice of reason, and the kick in my a** when I needed one. She’s my untiring supporter, loudest cheerleader, and often my inspiration. I love her beyond words, and have since we first met 30-ish years ago.

And she’s coming to see me tomorrow!!!!

If Joaquin will only stay out of her way.

Which means that we need lots of prayers – so that she can get here safely, and we can have more epic adventures, and then I can tell you most about them.

I can’t tell you all. That would break some kind of code. Plus you probably wouldn’t believe it. Because we’re those friends. The throw-caution-to-the-wind,  laugh-in-the-face-of-danger, charge-hell-with-a-bucket-of-water, and curl-up-on-the-couch-with-ice-cream-and-a-good-movie kind of friends.

She’s coming tomorrow!!!!!!

Now I just have to sleep tonight.
