Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head

Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head October 31, 2008

There’s a galley of a book that’s floated around my desk for a few days. Every time I see the title it floods my brain with the 80’s tune that I spend the rest of my day trying to suppress. I think of other songs and still it rings in my ears. I’ve heard some of my friends complain about other songs and Saturday night, the cooks at Kobe couldn’t quit with “I like to move it, move it.” I thought it might be good to do a list…if we can survive it. What are the songs that get stuck in your head? Here are a few and the lines that begin the madness:

  • “Well, take a look at me now. There’s just an empty space…” (“Against All Odds”)
  • “Where did you come from, Cotton Eyed Joe?” (“Cotton Eyed Joe”)
  • “I love you, always forever, near and far, closer together…”
  • “do do doo do do do doo doo, doo do doo do do doo doo doo” (“Tom’s Diner” – Suzanne Vega)
  • “It’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all” (“It’s a Small World”)
  • “Shut up, just shut up, shut up” (“Shut Up” – Black Eyed Peas)
  • “Hey macarena!” (“Macarena”)
  • that song from the Six Flags commercials with the dancing old man
