Prime Video has released the first trailer and poster for its upcoming inspirational sports drama, “Unstoppable,” releasing January 16, 2025. The film stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña with Don Cheadle and Jennifer Lopez and centers on Anthony Robles,’ who defied every expectation to become a national wrestling champion.. Directed by William Goldbenberg, an Academy Award-winning editor for “Fargo,” also nominated for “The Imitation Game,” “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Seabiscuit.” It is produced by Artists Equity, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company.
The trailer gives a glimpse at Lopez’s doting mother and Cheadle serving as a seasoned wrestling coach. Not only challenged to advance in wrestling, Robles’ family struggles are on display as well. “When people look at me, the first thing they see is what’s missing,” he says. “If I win, having one leg won’t be the most important thing about me.” The film also seems to highlight the young athlete’s determination, earning every win he gets. It gives me “King Richard” feels and reminds me of the smaller independent film “Never Give Up,” which chronicled Brad Minn’s journey to tennis championships. It has also been dubbed a “faith-based film,” so I’m intrigued and excited to see where that ties in to his story.
The official synopsis for “Unstoppable” follows:
