We saw the new western Appaloosa the other night and I really liked it. I don’t know why I’m enjoying more westerns as of late, but I loved 3:10 to Yuma and the Brad Pitt Jesse James movie that came out recently. Appaloosa fits right in with those but has a little more humor. The actors are also great. Here’s some of the review I wrote for New Man: Double Shot: Appaloosa The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Wyatt Earp and... Read more

Thanks to Chris Brewer for posting this video of the unintentionally hilarious David Caruso delivering his zingers on CSI: Miami. Read more

Found this blog today on beliefnet where the guy lists 10 Christian songs he grew up loving but is now embarassed to admit it, songs like DC Talk’s “Word 2 the Father,” Carman’s “Who’s In the House” and Audio Adrenaline’s “Big House.” So it got me thinking, because I have plenty of those, going back a few years more even. Here are some: “People In A Box” -Farrell and Farrell – A Devo-ish song about television that incorporates the theme... Read more

I’ve been reading scathing reviews of this movie for the past week, but I saw it over a week ago and, for the most part, I enjoyed it. I guess with this positive movie review, I truly am a federation army of one: Take Me Back: Star Wars – The Clone Wars Review A long time ago, I left a galaxy far, far away. It wasn’t a conscious choice; I had all the souvenirs–action figures, model sets and even a... Read more

I don’t know what has come over me but perhaps in the few weeks, it’s almost like I’ve thought “I’m not connected enough on the internet.” Because I’ve increased the amount of my internet networking accounts by 100% (or is it 200%? Maybe it’s 200% because a 100% would just be the same, right? I digress). Twitter has been the coolest thing lately. If you don’t have an account, sign up and let’s follow each other. I explained it to... Read more

What might it mean that The Dark Knight, the second installment of Chris Nolan’s Batman revamp, is well on its way to becoming the biggest grossing superhero movie of all time? Does it underscore a new public sensibility about superheroes, identifying more with normal humans with extraordinary passions? Or is it the result of a perfect storm of good story, superb cast and capable production? Most likely it’s both. In The Dark Knight, Bale’s Batman grapples with the mob and... Read more

I woke up Monday morning to drive home from Chattanooga and couldn’t find my Treo. I looked all over my friend Jay’s house before coming to terms with the fact that I had lost my smart phone. The night before, I’d gathered with a bunch of my friends in a field for a belated 4th of July picnic sponsored by my church in Cleveland. I thought to myself surely I couldn’t have lost it the same way I did before.... Read more

I know you’ve already seen this picture before on this site but today I’m participating in a Third Day group blog, so bear with me. This is back in 1995 before we were famous (notice I included myself) and we are so young (me a little older, though). I remember being impressed that they were all from my hometown of Marietta, Georgia and comparing notes on high schools (I went to Lassiter). And here are few more current pics: By... Read more
