Blessed Quietness Journal

Blessed Quietness Journal August 2, 2013

A colleague drew my attention to one of the funniest things on the internet. There is something called “Blessed Quietness Journal” which lists its Editor-in-Chief as “Jesus Christ”! The most impressive thing on their web site is probably their long list of institutions that readers should not ally themselves with. The way it is formatted, it looks like the object of their ire is in fact the organizations whose advertisements are on the page!

But seriously, click through to see the list. I am very tempted to write and ask that every organization that I am connected with be added to the list!

Gosh! There’s lots of conservative groups on this list, which I suppose doesn’t matter when you are to the right of Attila the Hun.

  • Maybe they should have just done a list of the groups they like and saved themselves some time.

  • Somehow my denomination didn’t make the lists, but our missions agency did . . . I guess that means that as long as I worship quietly in my church and don’t reach out to the world I can still get into heaven?

I love the hyper-fundamentalist critique of “Fundamentalism.”

No, you just love being a smart mouthed unrepentant hell bound sinner is what you love.

Apparently, ‘Yahweh’ is a cabbalistic/zionistic name for Jehovah!

(I suppose that’s true enough, though. Qabblah and zionism both derive from Jewish culture. Devotees of either probably do use ‘Yahweh’ at least sometimes to denote the same being as ‘Jehovah’ denotes…)

Actually seems like a good list.

    To James McGrath:

Please forward your list of associates, and I shall review them and add them to the list you found on the journal. I do have some rather specific requirements for anyone who holds the distinction of being on the list. They must meet the following standards:

Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

I do note that, as usual with mindless bigots, you have found one thing out of 1600+ articles which offends you. May I ask you to review the section of my journal based on the name of the journal, Blessed Quietness. I would like to see how you find a way to mock me for that editorial.

Also, my personal yarns section must contain some offensive material. Would you kindly read several of the yarns there, and tell me which ones you find offensive. I will at once edit them to suit your high standards of open minded editorship.

I want to tell you how much I admire a man like you. I find it refreshing to find a man with a hammer who sees everything in sight as a nail and bashes it soundly.

    Sincerely (cough cough)

PS The Texas thing now gives you much opportunity to blast away, that is, if you live in New York state or San Francisco.
