Benjamin Corey shared the above image. It is obviously a spoof (just look at the price). But it works to poke fun at notions of power and divinity that people hold.
Star Trek V asked “What does God need with a starship?” Now you can add the question “What does God need with a Kalashnikov AK-47?”
But think too that one could also ask what need God has of storms and lightning bolts.
Most people who claim to believe in God Almighty actually believe in a god that is merely mighty, much like this action figure. He may not need a magic cloak or an assault rifle, but he is depicted as using weapons, something that makes no sense for a truly almighty god.
It seems that making spoof idols can be an effective way of exposing real ones.
