I never thought I’d say this, but America might be better off if it had more prominent Fascist and Communist parties. In most European countries there are more than two parties that have a serious chance of having someone represented to parliament or an equivalent representative body, and the prime minister is usually the representative of the party with the most seats. In most European countries, the major “conservative” and “liberal” parties are aware not only that they are to... Read more
Gearing up for the trip to Israel and blogging while there, I want to test the performance of the iPad WordPress app, which allows you to take a photo while blogging and insert it directly into the post. And so here is a shot from the Butler University campus… The only issue is that you need to set the screen brightness in such a way that you can still see what is on it in spite of the glare from... When a person’s moral conscience is bombarded with inanity, they lose their ability to discern when truly gross sin is in their midst. — Darrell in his post “Moral Confusion” on the blog Stuff Fundies Like Read more

The world we live in is full of mysteries. When we envisage the self-replicating molecules that drive life on this planet, we wonder how they could have arisen, and we seek explanations. Likewise with the very fact than anything exists at all, we wonder why there is something rather than nothing. To say “God did it” is not an explanation. To suggest that an omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient being is somehow self explanatory and a way to eliminate mystery is misguided.... Read more
One reliable sign that a blogger is taking a stand for truth and open to following the evidence where it leads is when a negative post about them appears at Answers in Genesis. Joel Watts has now had this honor. Keep up the good work! Joel and Rod already have responses and comments posted. I love that AiG’s “refutation” of his point about unicorns is a link to their earlier article that inspired Joel to comment on the subject in... Read more
