A New Book Discussion: Living Out of Control

A New Book Discussion: Living Out of Control

Beginning on Monday, May 19 I will launch a new book discussion here. The chosen book is Living Out of Control: Political and Personal Faith in Waning Christendom by theologian Rodney Clapp (Fortress Press, 2025). It’s a relatively small book (135 pages) and easy to read. It packs a punch—about white American Christian nationalism.

According to the publisher’s “blurb” “the book depicts how we may now live as Christians without the reassertion of Christendom.”

You should receive the book quickly if you order it right away from Amazon or another online bookseller. If you order it for Kindle you will receive it immediately.

Rodney is a good friend of mine, but I will be objective in evaluating his book. He was my editor at InterVarsity Press and has been a valuable conversation partner throughout the years. He is will known in evangelical circles as a critical thinker of real insight into Christianity and culture.

Please order the book right away so you will be ready to comment on it when I open the discussion on May 19.
